TRAVEL TO PORTOROŽ-PORTOROSE

There are four international airports which are suitable for travelling to Portorož-Portorose. They are Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU), Trieste Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport (TRS), Venice-Treviso Airport (TSF) and Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). Please note that TRS, TSF and VCE are all located in Italy as this may affect some participant's visas.

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (https://www.lju-airport.si/en/)

Ljubljana Airport (LJU) is 23 km NW from Ljubljana and offers regular flights to a number of international airports, including Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Istanbul and London. It is located 140 km (approx. 1hr 25 min) from Portorož-Portorose. Options for travel to Portorož-Portorose from the airport include:

• Bus: There are buses directly outside the terminal that go to the main train/bus station in Ljubljana (https://www.lju-airport.si/en/transport/bus/). From the main station it is possible to get a bus to Portorož (www.ap-ljubljana.si).
• Shuttle services: Shuttle services are available from Ljubljana Airport directly to the hotel in Portorož-Portorose using GoOpti (https://www.goopti.com/en/) and ZUP Prevozi (http://www.zup-prevozi.eu/). Trieste Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport (https://triesteairport.it/en/)

Trieste Airport (TRS) in Italy is another possibility when traveling to Portorož-Portorose. In fact, it is the closest airport to Portorož-Portorose at just 75 km away (approx. 58 min). Venice Marco Polo Airport in Italy is another option while travelling to Portrorož-Portorose. The airport is 188 km (approx. 2 hrs 5 min) from Portrorož-Portorose. There are direct flights from many international locations to Venice Marco Polo Airport. BY CAR

Portorož-Portorose can reached via 3 main highways, they are Munich-Trieste-Koper (510 km), Vienna-Ljubljana-Koper (505 km) or Venice-Trieste-Koper (200 km). When travelling through Slovenia the Ljubljana-Koper-Portorož route should be taken and when travelling through Italy the Trieste-Koper (Capodistria)-Portorož (Portorose) route should be followed.

Useful information for driving in Slovenia:

• Speed limits in Slovenia are as follows: 130 km/h highways, 100 km/h motorways, 90 km/h other roads and 50 km/h in towns.
• Driving is on the right side of the road
• For highways/motorway: all drivers are required to have a valid e-vignette to drive on the highways/motorways in Slovenia. Further information on how to buy the e-vignette can be found at https://evinjeta.dars.si/en/how-buy
• The use of dimmed lights is compulsory at the territory of Slovenia.
• Important numbers to remember: 112 for all emergency services (Fire brigade, ambulance and police), 113 if you want to speak directly to the police and 1987 for road side assistance provided by AMZS (www.amzs.si).

BY TRAIN

There are two suitable train stations when travelling to Portorož-Portorose, they are Koper and Trieste (www.slo-zeleznice.si and www.trenitalia.com). For travelling between Koper train station and Portorož-Portorose, there are buses between the two towns regularly (check https://arriva.si/en/ and https://www.nomago.si/).
